WorkMatters to host 2010 Certification Exams

Practitioners working in occupational rehabilitation and return to work can apply for international recognition via the:

CERTIFIED DISABILITY MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (CDMP)

And

CERTIFIED RETURN TO WORK COORDINATOR (CRTWC)

The CDMP was successfully launched in the UK with examinations held in May 2007. We are now preparing for the 4th annual examination in May 2010.

This international certification is recognised in Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Austria, Hong Kong and Switzerland. There are now over 1300 Certified Disability Management Professionals (CDMP) worldwide.

The Certification provides recognition of the rehabilitation practitioner’s expertise in disability management and occupational rehabilitation, and is administered by the International Disability Management Standards Council (www.idmsc.org). The certification was developed in Canada by the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) (www.nidmar.ca) and is based on ILO’s Disability Management Standards.

In 2010 we will be adding the examination for the Certified Return to Work Coordinator.

Both qualifications recognise expertise in occupational rehabilitation and disability management, but the Certified Return to Work Coordinators typically work within an organisation and most often focus on facilitating the return to work for employees following illness or injury, while CDMPs are more often working as external consultants, providing advice and case management.

We plan to hold these exams in the South West (most likely Bristol), the South East (Dorking, Basingstoke or London), Scotland and possibly the North of England; the confirmed locations will depend on applicant demand.
